2020 Vote Artists

Native Action Network commissioned Indigenous artists Elsie Cree, Paige Pettibon, and Cindy Chischilly to create custom designs for our Native Women Vote campaign. These designs are free to download and share for non-commercial purposes.

Elsie Cree, Yakama & Nez Perce

Tac’ leeheyn, my name is Elsie Cree. I’m a 29 year old mother to two amazing kids. I’m the youngest daughter of Casey Cree and Della Wheeler. Also the youngest granddaughter to Delores Lookingglass Wheeler, Timothy Wheeler Sr., Virginia Alexander and Ronald Cree Sr. I recently graduated from Washington State University and am currently teaching in Lapwai Idaho. I’m a past graduate of Native Action Network’s Young Native Women’s Leadership Academy.

Why I Vote

Paige Pettibon, Salish

Paige Pettibon is a visual artist based in Tacoma, Washington. Paige is Salish from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation in Montana. She was raised on the Puyallup reservation, and has been welcomed by the Puyallup Tribe working as a mentor to youth, and mentee to the Puyallup Tribal language department. Paige is a recent graduate from Tacoma Community College where she received her Associate of Arts and Science degree, and she is currently continuing her education at the Evergreen State College. As an artist Paige strives to develop her fine art skills as well as cultural arts skills. Her work shows influences of her upbringing and strong cultural ties. Her main focus is painting with acrylics, and she has extended her talents to other mediums such as jewelry making, fiber arts, and writing. Why I Vote

"I vote because my ancestors fight for my rights. As an Afro-Indigenous woman, I believe it is my responsibility to act on my rights. When I vote it is for my people and for mother earth. I hope that the decision I make today will better our future and future generations."

Cindy Chischilly, Diné

Cindy Chischilly was born and raised in the high desert of Shonto, Arizona on Diné land, also known as the Navajo Nation. Her clans are Red Running into the Water - Tobacco People clan and she was born for the Bitter Water Clan.

All her life, she loved drawing and creating items by hand. After attending boarding school and high school on the reservation, she attended Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. In 2000, she launched her formal career and journey as a graphic designer.

Cindy is now a graphic designer, illustrator, adjunct professor, activist, animal rights advocate, and business owner. She lives in Seattle, Washington where she is the co-owner of a design studio (WhiteCanyonDesign.com).

Cindy begins with hand drawn ink sketches, then completes them digitally, adding layers of color and texture. Her designs are meant to engage, inspire, educate, empower and bring unity to all Indigenous People.
