Join fellow Native nonprofit leaders for a virtual session to learn about nonprofit compliance in Washington State. Topics include:

  • State registration and charity renewal

  • Federal tax-exempt status and IRS Form 990

  • Tribal vs. state jurisdiction in employment and tax law

  • Payroll, worker classification, and workplace standards

Our goal is to give you what you need to keep your nonprofit compliant and thriving. This session is designed to fit into your busy day and give you an overview of information. You’ll learn about resources available to help you keep learning after the session, and how to get answers to questions we don’t cover.

About the Instructor

Nancy Bacon is a nonprofit educator with over 25 years of experience helping mission-driven organizations turn knowledge into action. She has taught nonprofit compliance for many years, creating the learning tools that explain various state agency and federal rules, including Office of the Secretary of State, Department of Revenue, Department of Labor & Industries, and the IRS. Working with Native Action Network since 2018, she has worked alongside Native nonprofits across Washington and beyond to design culturally respectful learning experiences that strengthen organizational capacity, leadership, and community impact.
