AI Essentials: Putting the Human Back into AI - Communicating Faster and Smarter

Are you curious about AI—but want to engage with it on your own terms?

AI is already shaping how we communicate, plan, and get work done. How do we use it intentionally, ethically, and without losing our human judgment or voice? Grounded in the idea of sovereignty, this session focuses on making informed choices about when, why, and how AI fits into your work.

We’ll cover communication essentials and show how AI tools can help you plan, draft, refine, and organize content more efficiently—without losing your voice, values, or judgment. Examples will include writing and editing, planning communications, summarizing notes, and reducing everyday cognitive load.

The session includes live demonstrations and plenty of real-world examples. You’ll leave with a digital workbook containing practical prompts, templates, and decision-making guides you can use right away—so AI works for you, not the other way around.

  • Native Nonprofit “Building Community Together” Conference - A Huge Success

Native Action Network convened a successful nonprofit conference on October 7-9 in Spokane, Washington! This was the first Native nonprofit conference in our state, creating many opportunities to meet and network with emerging nonprofit leaders. Participants representing many regions and Tribes across the state highlighted issues and opportunities at the center of Native nonprofit leadership. We were honored to host Erik Stegman, CEO of Native Americans in Philanthropy. The Conference was held at Northern Quest Casino and Resort, which is owned by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. While there, we appreciated being hosted for an evening get together by the Camas Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the Kalispel Tribe’s language, culture, and heritage.

The Conference was an important part of NAN’s Native Nonprofit Learning Network, funded by the Washington State Office of the Secretary of State.
