Facilitated by Nancy Bacon & Roxanne Best

Workshop 1: May 14, 2026 in Omak, WA @ 12 Tribes Colville Casinos

Workshop 2: June 12, 2026 in Toppenish, WA @ Legends Casino (Yakama Room)

    Time: 9AM - 3PM

Money touches everything we do as nonprofit leaders—yet we rarely pause to examine how money trauma and our early money experiences shape how we lead. In this interactive session, we will explore three connected themes: Money Story, Communications, and Fundraising. We begin by looking inward. Our childhood experiences, cultural teachings, community histories, and lived realities influence how we think about scarcity, generosity, risk, worth, and asking for support. For many of us, money carries trauma—personal, intergenerational, or systemic—and those patterns can quietly shape how we budget, make financial decisions, price our services, and talk about funding. Through guided reflection, participants will gain clarity about their relationship with money and how it shows up in their leadership.

From there, we turn outward to Communications—how we articulate our mission, vision, and values in ways that are grounded, confident, and aligned with who we are. Strong messaging grows from self-awareness and clarity of purpose. Finally, we move into Fundraising, exploring practical, culturally rooted approaches to raising resources that honor relationships and community.

When we understand our own money story, speak clearly about our mission, and take practical steps to raise support, fundraising feels more aligned and more doable.

This session will be interactive, with a lot of opportunity to connect with others.

Both workshops will feature the same information, please pick a workshop and register below!

  • Native Nonprofit “Building Community Together” Conference - A Huge Success

Native Action Network convened a successful nonprofit conference on October 7-9 in Spokane, Washington! This was the first Native nonprofit conference in our state, creating many opportunities to meet and network with emerging nonprofit leaders. Participants representing many regions and Tribes across the state highlighted issues and opportunities at the center of Native nonprofit leadership. We were honored to host Erik Stegman, CEO of Native Americans in Philanthropy. The Conference was held at Northern Quest Casino and Resort, which is owned by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. While there, we appreciated being hosted for an evening get together by the Camas Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the Kalispel Tribe’s language, culture, and heritage.

The Conference was an important part of NAN’s Native Nonprofit Learning Network, funded by the Washington State Office of the Secretary of State.
