Application Deadline for 2025 NAN Ambassador

The NAN Ambassador program is a leadership program for young Native womxn designed to develop skills, build networks, and prepare the next generation of Native womxn leaders. 
The 2025 program will select one Native womxn from western Washington to represent NAN at national events throughout Indian Country, preparing her for future leadership positions at the tribal, state, and national levels. With the guidance of NAN, she will develop a strong Indian Country network, refine her professional skills, and learn to advocate for issues that matter. 

ELIGIBILITY:
The NAN Ambassador Program is open to young (aged 21-26) Native womxn residing in western Washington. NAN recognizes that gender is both fluid and expansive, and embracing those who identify as two-spirit, trans women, and genderqueer. The selected Ambassador will be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Tribe. 
The selected candidate will have obtained some level of higher education, a demonstrated commitment to public service, a strong desire to represent NAN at the local, state, and national levels, and the skills to represent NAN effectively and in a positive light. 

TIME COMMITMENT/PROGRAM COMPONENTS:
One NAN Ambassador will be selected for a term January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025. 

The NAN Ambassador will attend one national Indian Country event per quarter in 2025. We ask that all applicants confirm their ability to attend the following events in-person (final events and dates are subject to change). NAN will cover the cost of the NAN Ambassador's travel, lodging, and meals during travel. The NAN Ambassador will travel with at least one member of NAN's leadership team.

Quarter One: NCAI Winter Session, February 2025 (Washington, DC) *Date/Location TBD 
Quarter Two: RES, March 2025 (Las Vegas, NV) *Date/Location TBD 
Quarter Three: WEWIN Conference, July 2025 *Date/Location TBD 
Quarter Four: NAN's Native Women's Leadership Forum and Enduring Spirit Awards *Date/Location TBD 

Additionally, the NAN Ambassador will be required to attend NAN's Native Women's Leadership Forum and Youth Academy (dates TBD), other events as available, and asked to check in with the NAN Board regularly via virtual meetings and/or written reports. The NAN Board may invite the Ambassador to various events in the Puget Sound Region. The NAN Ambassador will be prominently featured by NAN in communication and outreach, including social media and press releases. The NAN Ambassador is a position of honor. The selected womxn will serve as a community role model and uphold NAN values at all times.
